What Is a Solar Eclipse?

Sometimes when the moon orbits Earth, it moves between the sun and Earth. When this happens, the moon blocks the light of the sun from reaching Earth. This causes an eclipse of the sun, or solar eclipse. During a solar eclipse, the moon casts a shadow onto Earth.

What will happen during total solar eclipse?

Solar eclipse is considered to be one of the most awe-inspiring spectacles in all of nature. The sky takes on an eerie twilight as the Sun's bright face is replaced by the black disk of the Moon. Surrounding the Moon is a beautiful gossamer halo. This is the Sun's spectacular solar corona. The corona can only be seen during the few brief minutes of totality. Just before totality you can see colorful shadow bands around you, a glittering diamond ring and then Bailey's Beads in the sky

Why is it so special?

It is a once in a life time event which cannot be described adequately through words or cannot be captured through pictures or videos. Everyone has to feel this unique experience on their own in real sky.It is a great scientific education opportunity for students as they learn these phenomenon in their elementary and middle schools but very rarely get a chance like this to see in real sky.
